Lottery tickets are a profound waste of money, money that could go directly toward tax money of the needy Americans. The Lottery is a corrupt system harming the player’s health, and making dust of their money through its system if smoke and mirrors. Rarely overlooked is the economic stability it is said to provide, when in reality our market is being harmed. The payback from the lottery is earmarked to be prosperous for the economy but the government plays right into this corrupt system known as the Lottery.
There’s much fuss about hazardous gambling addictions whether it be taking risks in life too much or laying down another hand at blackjack we all gamble. There then comes a point in the public eye when gambling becomes an addiction, but gambling goes just the same with a few spins on the slots and dealing of the cards when it becomes that of a shiny scratch-off. (Noun) Lottery tickets are just as much a gamble as one credit in the slot machine, you know you’re getting a game, but not guaranteed a payout; in fact most times you receive a deduction from your wallet. “The lives of those who are vulnerable to a gambling addiction are as damaged by an addiction to lottery games as to any other form of gambling” this is a necessary quote for full understanding of how playing the lottery every week is just like any other gamble, it begins to consume a person and make them into a money wasting frenzy. The belief that the lottery is a safe bet does just the same as sitting at a blackjack table not knowing anything of the game.
Consumer Goods sales are high on the importance chart for economic stability. The joy of consumer goods is that you’re guaranteed an outcome or product. Lotteries just like any other gamble are a hit or miss. When you buy a lottery ticket you have the chance of winning big or losing the worth of the bill you just paid, consumer goods result in money toward tax money directly and business sales. Business sales equal’s good stock market stocks are how companies get funded to grow larger. Our economy is supported by this success in business, without business there would be no goods, even lottery tickets. When a lottery ticket is bought the money is put into a large system churning of money to keep itself afloat. When you provide the system with a pretty dollar for a ticket that’s valued at 50 cents, paying One Dollar for a 50 cent ticket is equivalent to a 100% sales tax…that goes straight to the government. “If people had the money in their pockets and they were spending it on consumer goods; First of all society would be more wealthy”. This is a quote proving true the theory of Lotteries putting to waste the money of the hopefuls contributing to the puddle of money. The lottery system is a large pool of money used for and by the government. It is proven that African Americans, low wage workers, and school dropouts are the number one contributors to this pool of wealth. These demographics’ along with the other percent of regular players are playing (Verb) into this web of lies; the government has promised to be contributed to the State Economy. Little do most know the lottery’s revenue is spent however the government chooses. The popular earmarked occurrences are funding for education and transportation, which have been proven wrong by economists. “The money states make from them seldom goes where the law says it should”. The individual states choose where the money gets spent, and that fact alone seems unjust and wrong. The Government is using the money from blind consumers of a hidden message system. Providing a product that doesn’t guarantee a win, now that is wasteful.
Once thought by myself as well, the lottery can be a good thing. The suspense of getting the lottery ticket that could possibly change your life is so adventurous. Scratch offs could even be looked at as a joy inducing item, even if the reward is a few dollars more then you put in originally for the ticket. This euphoria provided is a great way to boost the happiness of the player, and ultimate provide a stimulating game play. Providing happiness though the ticket isn’t a guaranteed win that is the problem at hand. Gambling is not a product that promises a good, you’re promised a chance to win a prize that’s a million to one against your odds. The player’s hopes are built up so rapidly and more often than not within a few twitches of the finger instantly shot down, which can cause undeterminable emotional harm. Players who have developed an addiction experience a high of some exciting sort, and quickly coming off it is hazardous to their health, even if for just a little ounce of happiness.
The lottery system is a system based on principles that harm the health of players, diminish economic stability, and feed the government money to dispose at their free-will. Contributing to this system is a profound waste of money, using that money toward the economy and people of the great states would be a much better use of time and money. Next time you are out shopping and think of your chance to win the mega millions think of how with that money you would buy the tickets with could go toward a consumer good and our economic stability.
