I am horribly disgusted in the humanity of one man this morning...JAMES HOLMES, a strong built, 24 year old Caucasian male, was armed with gas bombes and automatic weapons, dressed in camo, and a full gas mask, while kicking through emergency doors of the Century 16 movie theater in Aurora, Colorado during a midnight screening of "BATMAN The Dark Knight Rises".
I can tell you now by watching the major morning news networks there are at least 12 people dead, and 50 others wounded. The youngest victim is just 3 months old! The man is in custody by police, and has not said anything beside a remark about his home housing explosives...taking that into account the police S.W.A.T. are searching his home, and car. The major news networks have on-going investigations backed with actual witness evidence airing as I type. The footage of the theater lined with 100 Police, and Federal Police cars is horrifying to watch. Cell phone footage has been aired of the panic outside afterward, and victims being rushed out...It is unbelievable seeing one man walk out with blood soaking his shirt. Just a week ago I was covered in blood being eaten alive by zombies for a horror film...this all seems too real that it is happeneing to real people...the blood aspect, it is not yet confirmed that zombies had nothing to do with this attack...lol (too soon?) They are now reading tweets made LIVE during the attack before the news even broke. People tweeting about their loved ones being there while they are alone, wondering if they even made it out alive...that's terrible. The attack happened during an action scene in the movie, and many people at first thought it was a stunt for the film...then blood began flying, as bullets did too. The news keeps bringing in people on the phone giving play by play accounts of what happened, from what they all have said:
The shooter Worked his way thru the emergency doors, slowly making his way up the rows to the back of the theater, dressed in a gas mask, and armored vest shooting wildly. People would try to escape, but then you'd heard screams and gunshots. As civilians escaped one by one, cops broke their way in thru the terrified crowds. Civilians left helplessly hanging onto life as others were forced to run to safety as the shooter was still in the theaters.
Just hearing the witnesses talk thru their gasping speech is a tear enducing experience as a viewer of the news. The way humans react to events is both heroic and tragic. Kaleb Nation a popular author said it right "@KALEBNATION: Those kids went to watch a hero and had to witness the opposite. My heart goes out to everyone in the Aurora theater shooting."
"Me and my girlfriend were playing dead in an isle, until one guy yelled 'he's gone'" -on the phone witness
People definately came together as humans to help those hurt physically and emotionally. People helped ensure others were getting out as quickly as possible, and not getting ran over. This is most certainly a silver horizon to see the humanity of strangers coming together even in such a dividing kind of time. Us Americans are amazing, but then there are those who aren't so wise, and decide to ruin a premiere of a legendary film...so many geeks hate that shooter right now.
They now have live footage of SWAT teams looking thru the windows of the shooters apartment. I know this is a big media event and all...but I am hoping they still do the SUMMER CONCERT SERIES because "Karmin" is set to perform...and I really don't want to be hearing of this tragic event all day...I have to go shopping, sad shopping results in bad taste in selections. Call me incredibly self centered here but hey...I am the one who runs me...I pretty much have to be selfish in order to live, if not I wouldn't eat or anything to help myself for that matter. Hmm...oh yah it's a commercial so I am kind of just rambling on here...
...oh, oh my gawd, they are playing witnss calls and in the background you hear girls weeping...I don't like people crying :_( The victims and other people have been taken by 4 bus loads over to the nearest high school parking lot, there they are being interviewed, and helped medically. A caller who's 15 tells of her friends escaping, seeing a little boy limping, scared ot deaht. They carried him to their car finding his leg shot..the boy was histerically screaming for his little sister...I could not even imagine.
Authorities have checked his background, no terrorism activity ever, and does not appear to be a grouped task...classified as a "Lone Wolf" operation. The guys apartment was said to have explosives and for the law enforments safety they are entering thru the window in fear of internal boobie traps.
As people got out of the theater thinking it was all a joke, the police men were ordering them to get out of the theater, and the entire situation became real to them when they saw the bloody victims limping out of the theater. The mood after the attack in the theater is classified as "complete chaos" the people did not knwo what to do. Many ran out to their cars, as others stayed to help. When they left police stopped their cars, in a panic police were going everywhere...the people asked the cop what to do, and he responded "JUST LEAVE" -She then knew they had not yet detained the man, and the parking lot was in a panic...so much so the people could not think about anything but getting out...alive
The odd, maybe ironic part to this is the shooting was just 20 miles from the Columbine high school where the well known mass school shooting occured in April 1999!
A point they keep bringing up is the fear of future BATMAN showings today and the days to keep. The threat of a copy cat occurence is high, hopefully it doesn't occur.
I figured I'd log something like this into my blog, I know this is a huge thing on the web today...I'm done.
Stay Golden...
