My Hotel caught on fire!

originally Posted on March 8, 2012 at 2:40 AM

OK, so I enjoy being a night owl when it comes to getting work down (writing, designing my blog etc.) so yes sometimes I may need to sleep in. While here on Vacation at Wilderness in the Smokies I found myself using their Wifi connection as a tool to keep myself up all night working (-_-) and the next more while my family prepared and left for the massive indoor waterpark I stay nestled in our suite away from real life, sleeping in. Pleasant 
*EEE* *EEE* *EEE* Oh, what? What? OMG Smoke Alarm, Strobe lights, buzzing!! The Fire alarm in the hotel is blasting me into a panic as I scramble around the suite bumping into the couch and window freaking out! (Mind you I am alone while my family is across the street at the other half of the Wilderness at the Smokies) The first thought that comes to mind is not GET OUT NOW AND SAVE YOUR BUTT! No. It’s GRAB YOUR LAPTOP, PHONE, AND IPOD! But of course because life loves to challenge me I couldn’t find my phone. Just as my iPod had last night my phone decided to creep under the couch. So after grasping my life line in my hand I jumped up and ran to the hotel door. The hallways were empty of human commotion, I run to the nearest housekeeping cart and see an open suite, with the sheets thrown every which way…great I’m alone in a Hotel I just came to yesterday, in which has like 2 different elevator and 3 different floors just to get to our suite…great.
So after freaking out about the initial thought of imma die I ran to the end of the hallway to an Elevator…then stopped and thought, CRAP you’re not supposed to during a fire! So I did a 360 spin to look for the stairs, didn’t see them so I ran back to my room area and then finally I see a house keeping lady! She says “Please go to the front desk” in a panic, so I run back to the Elevator thinking ok there’s obviously no huge fire, and I’m not about to walk 3 floors of stairs...So I got in the buzzing elevator.
I eventually make my way into the now crowded lobby to see an employee walk out into the center of the room and project, “There’s no fire, the sprinkler system was set off somewhere in the hotel…everything is alright”…….*stares blankly*
Ok, in a lazy rampage I return to my room’s hallway. Stopped by a Mexican house keeper person, he starts speaking Spanish (I guess I appear as though I speak it!?!?) I just simply nod and say ok after getting a few rough English words out of his speech. I walk to my room and point asking fi I can go in now. He nods in approval, (very happy fellow:)) As I am walking into my room he stops the door and says “I check something real quick” *looks into our suites bathroom* then he turns to me and with a delightful smile “It’s ok, no problem here!”…I laughed as the door closed.
So yes, fun morning huh? LOL I’m having a fun Vacation
But seriously this is a wonderful place, it's a beautiful Wilderness theme with Amazing staff and Ammenities! COME!
Love ya'll STAY GOLDEN!
